The Atlantic

I remembered
Remembered something she'd written, once

Written to someone
She didn't know who, and I couldn't say who either

Everyone, perhaps
Or, maybe, no one - Is there a difference

And I remember
She wrote "Don't throw me into the sea"

And all
All I could think was "No, I'll not."

Not throw you
Into the sea, but I'd take your hand

And jump in
And swim, fighting the waves like life, together

Till exhausted
We'd return to shore and collapse on the beach

Together
And we'd smile, happy at last

Perhaps, perhaps
I'm dreaming too much about what cannot be

Perhaps, perhaps
I'm just not the right one

But a fellow
A fellow can dream, can he not?

Yo! Be honest, folks.
